Tullibardine stands proudly in the village of Blackford, Perthshire – the gateway to the Scottish Highlands.
The site has a long and majestic history for brewing and distilling dating back to 1488 when King James IV of Scotland stopped by the site, a brewery at the time, to purchase beer.
Our Story
Tullibardine’s history of brewing and distilling dates back to 1488, when King James IV of Scotland stopped by the site, a brewery at the time, to purchase beer.
This was recorded as the first public purchase of beer in Scotland.
Fast forward to 1947 when distillery specialist William Delme-Evans visited the same spot and found that the mineral rich character and purity of the water from nearby springs situated in Perthshire’s Ochil Hills was perfect for distillation.
The Ochil Hills are well known for the gold that was once mined from them, giving us our ‘a drop of pure Highland gold’.
Using the Danny Burn as the water source, Delme-Evans converted the brewery site into a whisky distillery and named it Tullibardine after the small medieval chapel situated nearby and translating as ‘lookout hill’ in Gaelic.
Tullibardine was the first distillery to be built in Scotland since 1900.
The distillery lay silent between 1993 and 2003 but was reinvigorated by a group of private investors and then sold to family-owned French wine and spirits group, Terroir Distillers, in 2011.
The distillery is now thriving once again with a cooperage, maturation warehouses, blending facility and a bottling line all located on-site.

Tullibardine is one of a small number of distilleries in Scotland where all processes involved in the production of our single malt whisky take place on-site, bar malting.
This ensures the dedicated craft team are in control of all processes and that each whisky created respects Tullibardine’s heritage and focus on spirit and wood quality.

Signature Range
Sovereign
Tullibardine’s Signature Single Malt has been matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon Barrels. The Sovereign is beautifully golden with its floral, sweet barley notes and subtle hints of vanilla. On the finish there is fudge, pear drops and soft spice.
225 Sauternes Cask Finish
A wonderful, rich whisky that has been matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon Barrels, and finished in 225 litre Sauternes Casks. This beautifully golden Tullibardine has hints of citrusy lime on the nose and hints of vanilla and oatmeal. On the palate, there is a touch of tropical pineapple and zingy orange zest. Our 225 finishes with a creamy edge.
228 Burgundy Cask Finish
The auburn hue of this whisky comes directly from its time spent in the 228 litre barriques that previously held Pinot Noir from Chateau de Chassagne-Montrachet. The nose of the 228 features red cherries and vanilla with hints of chocolate and Turkish Delight. On the palate, there is a real hint of red summer fruit, more chocolate and a sweet spice note on the finish.
500 Sherry Cask Finish
Matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon Barrels and then for a period of time in 500 Litre Spanish Sherry Butts, which gives this Tullibardine its nutty brown colour. There are intense toffee apple notes on the nose with a hint of oatmeal. These notes then combine with a viscous spicy feel and sweet dates on the finish.

Tullibardine is set to take fans on a ‘stunning flavour journey’ with its very first Tasting Collection Set. The pack of four miniature bottles offers the perfect way for whisky lovers to discover Tullibardine’s award-winning Signature range. The set features 4 x 50ml bottles of the distiller’s Sovereign, Sauternes Cask Finish, Burgundy Cask Finish and Sherry Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whiskies, packaged in a stylish grey and gold case.
15 Year Old
Our Tullibardine 15 year old, was distilled after the reopening of the distillery in 2003. It has been matured in first-fill bourbon casks, under the watchful eye of our Master Distiller, in our traditional warehouses at the foot of the Ochil hills. This exceptional single malt delivers a nose of delicate dried hay and parma violets, with touches of baked apple, cloves and vanilla ice-cream. Notes of freshly baked scones with hints of strawberry jam and clotted cream, marry with delicate spices. With a finish of subtle nuttiness, this whisky is pleasantly nostalgic of summer days gone by.
20 Year Old
Having been aged in first-fill ex Bourbon Barrels for a minimum of 20 years, this rich, golden whisky is beautifully floral on the nose and delightfully balanced with hints of vanilla, honey and butterscotch. On the palate, you will experience these beautifully aged flavours combined with rich creamy baked apples and chocolate, ending with an incredibly long, soft finish.
25 Year Old
This whisky was matured for a minimum of 25 years in ex-sherry Hogsheads. It is beautifully aged with wonderful hues of red, orange and brown. Amazingly, no oaky notes appear at all for a whisky of this age. You’ll instead find subtle vanilla, toffee and orange chocolate. Tullibardine 25 Year Old has an incredible viscous quality that fills the mouth with baked banana, orange peel and a long, creamy, silky finish.
The Murray 2005
Distilled in 2005, The Murray 2005 has been matured in first fill American oak casks and bottled at cask strength. Notes of vanilla ice cream mingle with syrupy pineapple and bursts of sherbet lemon. The sweeter flavours are interwoven with hints of malted biscuits and honey, which culminate in a smooth, lingering finish.
