Ron Prohibido

The name of «Ron Prohibido» is due to its history. During the 18th century, Spanish boats arrived in America with sweet wine reserves in barrels. Instead of returning to Spain empty, they filled it with Mexican wine and rum, known at the time as Chinguirito.

The wine and rum remained at the bottom of the boats, whose wood made the effect of barrels, for the duration of the return journey. During the trip, the rum absorbed the aromatic characteristics of the barrels, which produced a high quality rum.

This rum was successful in Spain, and domestic producers complained to the King, who was forced to ban his production in the new world.

Then the Forbidden Ron was born.
